'my profile' and other stuff... Anybody with a fix, please leave a comment. Many thanks in advance.

That said, if you must use Firefox (and I don't blame you, it's become my browser of choice, too)
...get the "IE Tab" extension. This allows you to view problem pages with the IE rendering engine. Very cool!

Confronting Civil War Revisionism: Why The South Went To War

I had to laugh when I read this comment over at 'freeperville' this morning. In response to a surprisingly honest post about Civil War revisionism.

See if you can spot the 'bullshit':

To: Sopater
Can't have the GOP going to war to free the slaves now can we?

The democrats were the slaveholding party of the confederacy and kept blacks down for 100 years after the civil war to boot.

How the democrats get 90% of the black vote is a testament to brilliant propganda on their part and incomptence on the GOP's.

There is a lesson to be learned and heres hoping the same mistake won't be made with the Hispanics.

OK, chucklenuts, here's an answer to your 3rd graf: Not 'brilliant propaganda' but Nixon's 'Southern Strategy'. An outreach program for the dixiecrat racists of the Old South to hook up with the G.O.P.

Those former confederates were promised no social changes for blacks, while the new democrats were promoting civil rights. Duh! Is it any wonder that the African American population swung over to the Democratic party? They didn't need some Rush Limbaugh to brainwash them, they could see where their interests lay. --pseudolus
